Designing and Building a Clothing Brand's Shopify Store from Scratch

The Problem

A clothing brand launched in 2025, built around stitched ready-to-wear, had nowhere to sell. As a new brand, it needed an online home before anything else could happen. Stitched ready-to-wear lives or dies on sizing confidence, buyers largely pay cash on delivery, most traffic would arrive from Instagram and TikTok on a phone, and the catalogue turns over constantly with new drops.

The Strategy

  1. 01Designed a deliberately restrained store: a minimal layout, generous white space and large photography, built for the phone first
  2. 02Built a homepage where every block earns its place, including a promotional bar, campaign imagery the client swaps for each new drop, and a new arrivals grid
  3. 03Organised navigation around how the customer shops, with the size guide and contact in the main menu
  4. 04Made size and fabric clear on product pages, right where the buyer decides, with shipping and policy info linked at the point of decision
  5. 05Set up the catalogue and checkout: variants, inventory, collection rules, cash on delivery, shipping zones and rates, tax, order emails and discount codes
  6. 06Published policies and a dedicated size guide, then walked the client through adding products, running sales and swapping banners without touching code

The Results

Key Takeaway

The brand didn't need a flashy site. It needed one that sells the clothes, answers the sizing question and earns a cautious buyer's trust, and it had to be simple enough for the team to run without us.
